About
us
It was the year 1902 when Lamberto Juncosa Massip founded the first
company to run a cabinet making workshop in Palma. Born in Catalonia,
he got acquainted with Mallorca working for D. Joan Ferra, whose factory
at the Minyones street in Palma produced some of the finest furniture.
There he met his wife to be, Enriqueta Iglesias, a relative of the
Ferrašs.
CAN
JUNCOSA of Industria street in Palma, soon earned the reputation
of being one of the best period and contemporary furniture factories
of the Island; worth mentioning would be projects executed with
great skill and difficulty for the most demanding private or corporate
clients: Best known families of Mallorca, the Principal or Lirico
theaters, Town Hall, the Gran Hotel, etc.

Having
met difficult times at the end of the 30šs, the Company lose their
founder Lamberto Juncosa in 1941. His son Angel is obliged to take
over: Aged 25 and just back from Stuttgart where he qualified as
an Interior Architect, he succeeds to bring the factory back to
a more prosperous situation, thanks to great deal of sacrifice and
lots of effort.
Later
in 1951 Angel Juncosa undertakes a very comprehensive conversion
of the Sant Nicolau street premises in central Palma. It will become
the first shop of the Island specialised in retailing furnishing
fabrics, as well as pioneer in curtain making and other sevices
for the trade.
It
is worth mentioning the relevance of Blanca Aysa, Angel Juncosašs
wife incorporation to the Company when, in 1958, she opens a new
furniture and decorating shop in Jaime III. It will soon represent
the embrio of what should be the major commercial issue for the

Later
in 1969, joins the Company their son Angel Juncosa Aysa, having
qualified as an Interior Designer at the Royal College of Art in
London. He soon gets involved in the project for the new premises
at the Can Valero industrial state, where all activities, both manufacturing
and commercial, will concentrate: Furniture making and finishing,
upholstery and curtain making.
Dona
Blanca severe illness, together with the large showrooms in Can
Valero make the premises in central Palma obsolete, so the Jaime
III shop is closed in 1975. During the late eighties Mallorca lives
through an outstanding development, amongst others, of both touristic
activities and building construction services, together with the
growth of demand for mass production furniture.
These
led to a lack of skilled labour on one hand, and a greater demand
for ready made furniture on the other. Consequently, the Directors
decide to desmantle the made to measure furniture workshop, converting
the entire premises into commercial showrooms, bigger curtain making
workshop and improved furniture and fabrics storage areas.
In
1992, after 50 years of dedication, Angel Juncosa Iglesias takes
his deserved retirement. At the same time, Jacqueline Vecchierini,
Angel Juncosa Aysašs wife, joins the management team. Her first
involvements will concern the improvement of the image of showroom
and shops, updating the fabric and textiles division, incorporating
new suppliers as well as sellecting better products.
